Professional Photo Tips

Good quality photos are important for your staff work profile, work website and online booking platforms.

Photo tips:

Capture an image in high resolution.

  • Ensure the photo is well lit, preferably with natural lighting.

  • Create a photo that reflects your personality.

  • Dress in attire that suits your industry and the chosen photo location.

  • Consider your body language in the photo.

  • Keep your photo up to date to reflect you and make it easier for other to recognise you.

  • Have a trusted person review your photo and provide feedback.

  • Portrait photos:

    • Don’t take the photo as a handheld selfie. Use a timer or ask someone to take the photo for you.

    • Move the camera back further than a selfie, so the viewer doesn’t feel like they are in your personal space.

    • Look directly at the camera or just above it.

    • Select a simple background with minimal distractions. Soft colours are best.

    • Take the photo with the lens at eye or nose level

    • Your face should be evenly balanced if the image is cropped to a circle on the program platform.

    • Review your photo to ensure if portrays the desired attributes such eg. trustworthy and caring.

      • Use the smile you would use to greet a patient. This may not be the biggest smile, but caring and inviting.

  • Action photos/candid photos:

    • Experiment with looking directly at the camera, or looking away from the camera for a more candid approach.

    • Incoroporate an element into your photo that helps others recognise your profession/speciality

    • Ensure no sensitive material are in the photo.
